My father taught me that one of the most important things in life is to do what you love and love what you do when it comes to work. Well… I have certainly been living by this motto!

I started my career in the retail industry and at the age of 22, I opened my own little enterprise, a high-end fashion boutique, which grew to three separate outlets, a coffee shop and a total of 20 staff, all of which allowed me to win the alex North East Young Woman Entrepreneur of the Year in 2000 and be nominated by the  Drapers Award as a finalist in the Best New Business category in 2004. During this  time, I organised numerous fashion shows in a large variety of venues, with different  themes and goals. They always proved popular with my customers and were loads of fun  to organise.

After more than 11 years, I felt the need for a challenge and embarked on a new career,  one that would allow me to use the experience gained by starting and growing a  business to help others grow theirs. I have been acting as a Creative & Strategic Marketing Consultant ever since for various businesses in Newcastle, increasing their brand awareness and market presence, while enhancing sales performance as a direct result.

In March 2013, I joined forces with a group of extremely talented creative and media professionals. Together we are PLAINSIGHT Consultancy and when it comes to marketing, the versatility of our joint skills set means that there are few creative, media or digital challenges we cannot meet or overcome… if any!  In my Plainsight role, I am often involved in events, whether as the organiser, manager, promoter or even compère, sometimes the lot! It quickly became apparent to the events side of thing needed a platform and identity of its own which is when Red Shoe Events came into existence.

There is no doubt that this job is definitely a lot of fun and there is nothing more rewarding than seeing an event coming together, people having fun and taking notice of the details you have put some much time in putting together.  I am definitely one of those lucky people who do what they love and love what they do!
