What a special evening that was folks!
On the 18th of March we took over the exclusive 467 Club at Bonbar, a location that lends itself perfectly for a private, intimate and unique dining experience.
This time the focus of the night wasn’t just on the exquisite food provided by the Chef at Bonbar, but also on the perfect wine pairings chosen to enhance and compliment each dish on the menu.
At some point during the evening I noticed the incredible amount of wine glasses we had on our table, that I started to question myself whether I was drinking too slowly or I had too much to drink that the glasses were starting to multiply in front of my eyes.
Anyway… back to the start of our dinner!! After a brief introduction about the Supper Club and the menu, done by the sommelier of Bonbar, the starters were served – we had a choice between a delicate Salmon Mousse, with Watercress and crispy Focaccia and a beautifully presented Vegetable Terrine with Rocket with Brioche Toast and toasted Hazelnuts. Accompanying this sofisticated starter there was an equally sofisticated wine choice from New Zealand, a pungently aromatic Sauvignon Blanc.
Between the starter and the main course the live act of the evening Ross Kerr made his entrance in style with a shiny white mic kit, in perfect contrast with his burgundy blazer, so stylish.
What a beautiful and soulful voice he has! The notes of the each song filled every angle of the room accompanying the waiters, while they moved around the tables serving the main course to the guests – An incredible Merlot Risotto presented with a spoonful of the said red wine to pour over. Simple but effective.
A scenographic lamb shank was one of the picks for the second course, completed with a richly fruity Pinot Noir from Chile. Sweet conclusion of this lovely evening was the dessert, a nutty Chocolate Slab, a delight for the palate made even more enjoyable by a super cute miniature wine glass in which an intense-flavoured Port was served.
All in all, the live music and the “secret” location, added to the evening in a way that it almost felt like we were thrown back to another era, maybe the golden age of the 30s or something!
A huge thanks goes to each and every one of you who joined us and to Bonbar for the excellent service!
There are more Supper Club On TOUR appoinments in the diary! Next one will be on the 14th of April at Artisan, the well renowned restaurant in The Biscuit Factory.
